PRESS RELEASE

The International Championship Fighting makes history Sunday, June 7 when “The Power of Champions” event brings a new vision of amateur Mixed Martial Arts to the Sport Center of Las Vegas.

Amateur fighting is no longer taking a backseat in America and abroad. As organizations in the upper echelon of the sport continue to garner support, promotions such as the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, Dream, and others are eager to find the best talent in order to fulfill the fans' demand for great fights. While many events bring amateur fighters to the proving grounds of competition, rarely is there enough organizational structure for the professional leagues to scout directly from a single pool of athletes. With the involvement of Giberto Faria, the owner of Fury FC out of Brazil, and Mike Martinez of MMA Pro Sports, and GGMMA, the ICF promises to change this.

That commitment also paves a path for MMA's young men and women to achieve their potential while allowing these future stars a bridge into the professional sports world.

President Rico White elaborated, “There has to be a vehicle to get the fighters from one level to the next. We are that vehicle. Our goals are lofty but obtainable. We want to unify amateur MMA fighting. As such, we have put together the ICF MMA Amateur Circuit. This is GGMMA at its best. There are many organizations who put on amateur fights throughout the country. However, what has previously been lacking is a major unified body like USA Boxing and the Golden Gloves of America. That is where the ICF and GGMMA come into play... our organization has the ingredients to be the leader in unifying the sport.”

As the International Championship Fighting, LLC amateur program moves forward a definitive ranking system and tournament format will assure matchmakers from professional promotions, sponsors, and the fans, that the next generation of professional Mixed Martial Artists are a realization of the sport's evolution—competition will lead to progress. Along the way the mission of the ICF will be to provide an active and safe environment that promotes and enhances the physical and emotional well-being and social development of the athletes. As part of that mission statement, the ICF aims to develop individual athletic skills, work ethic, discipline, sportsmanship, self-respect, pride, and provide entertainment to citizens of the MMA community.

Looking ahead to the potential for amateur competition White predicts, “The ICF will be the Amateur MMA program that will lead the way in promoting amateur MMA in the United States and produced the majority of competitors for America's MMA teams that will eventually compete in the Pan-Am and Olympic Games.”
